Sometimes Transformation Begins with a Sledgehammer

This week, our incredible volunteer facilities team took the first step toward launching the Front Porch Housing Social Enterprise by beginning demo of the former Greenville Textbooks building on South Pleasantburg Drive.

What was once an empty building is beginning its transformation into something much bigger than a resale store.

This future space will provide meaningful job training opportunities for Front Porch Housing residents while creating a sustainable source of income that helps support our mission. Every donated piece of furniture, every item of clothing, every handcrafted gift, and every purchase will help create new opportunities for individuals and families working toward stability and independence.

The photos tell the story. In just one day, our volunteers accomplished an incredible amount of work, turning a worn space into one filled with possibility. We are so grateful for the men who gave their time, energy, and skills to help bring this vision to life.

This is only the beginning…

Over the coming months, we'll continue sharing construction updates, volunteer opportunities, behind-the-scenes progress, and sneak peeks as the space comes together. We can't wait to bring you along for the journey. When the doors officially open, we hope you'll make Front Porch Market your go-to destination for furniture, fashion, artisan gifts, home décor, and meaningful holiday shopping—all while making a lasting impact in our community with every purchase.

Every purchase will help welcome someone home.

Thank you for believing in this vision and walking alongside us as we create new pathways to employment, dignity, and lasting change.
